Picture your bin in pickup loads.

For a simple visual comparison, this site uses the supplied benchmark of 9 cubic yards being about 4 pickup-truck loads. That is roughly 2.25 cubic yards per reference load. Real truck beds and packing vary, so these figures describe approximate space only, not safe truck payload, rental-bin weight or an exact number of trips.

Picture the space

Enter a volume in cubic yards. We use the reference 9 cubic yards ≈ 4 pickup loads.

Your estimate will appear here.

Rounded to the nearest half load. Truck beds and packing vary. This is not a payload or weight allowance.

How is the comparison calculated?

Take the estimated cubic yards and multiply by four ninths. The homepage rounds the answer to the nearest half load so the visual is easy to scan. On that basis, the inventory footprints compare to about 2.5, 6.5, 6.5, 7 and 7.5 reference pickup loads, in the order shown in the bin guide.

This arithmetic uses the same benchmark consistently. It does not validate the benchmark for your own truck. A compact bed, a long bed and a loosely stacked load can all produce very different real-world results.

Why might your actual pile take more space?

Furniture creates gaps that a neat rectangular estimate misses. A curved chair, a rigid cabinet or a long desk may leave unusable space around it. Items that can safely be dismantled may pack differently, but do not count on crushing or compressing material to make a booking work.

Compare the largest item with the bin's usable opening and internal dimensions. Then consider the rest of the load. The pickup comparison is most useful for starting a conversation, not settling a final capacity decision.

What does this comparison leave out?

Weight, acceptance and safe transport are separate questions. A relatively small quantity of tile or masonry can be much heavier than the same volume of household clutter. Do not use the graphic to judge how much your pickup can carry or how much heavy material a rental bin can take.

  • Check your project's materials with the rental provider
  • Keep every item within the agreed fill line
  • Use the actual bin measurements for rigid objects

A couple of common questions.

Why does another company show a different load count?

They may use a different reference truck, packing assumption or bin capacity. Compare their actual dimensions and stated assumptions instead of treating load-count graphics as a universal standard.

Does seven loads mean seven tonnes?

No. The load count is a rough volume comparison. It has no fixed relationship to tonnes, pounds or the rental's agreed weight allowance.
